NAB-ACRI Australia-China Business Engagement Index - Chinese version (澳中企业参与指数)

The Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) in partnership with National Australia Bank (NAB) have published the first-ever report comparing attitudes of Chinese and Australian business leaders towards bilateral engagement.

Two polls were conducted in parallel, with NAB surveying 580 Australian business leaders and ACRI surveying 1000 Chinese-resident business leaders. The findings were then analysed and compared, resulting in the new Australia-China Business Engagement Index which will be updated bi-annually.

On December 3 2015 the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) in partnership with National Australia Bank (NAB) launched the NAB-ACRI Australia-China Business Engagement Index.

The Index, compiled by the NAB Economics Group, ACRI Deputy Director James Laurenceson and ACRI researcher Elena Collinson, is the first-ever report comparing attitudes of Chinese and Australian business leaders towards bilateral engagement.

Aged Care in China

1. In 2014 212 million people in China were aged over 60.[1] The number is expected to rise to 480 million by 2050.[2]

Sustainable development business dialogue

On August 25 2015 the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) in partnership with the Climate Institute held a dialogue with business leaders with overseas trading links throughout the EU, China and the US to discuss Australia's future competitiveness in a low-carbon global economy.

Victoria-China Relations

The Honourable Daniel Andrews was sworn in as Victorian Premier in December 2014. On September 17 2015 the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) hosted a keynote address by Premier Andrews in which he shared his insights into the Victoria-China relationship a week before his first trip to China.

Victoria boasts $4.2 billion of exports to China annually, almost twice as much as to the United States and more than double that to Japan and New Zealand. China is already Victoria’s top two-way trading partner and number one export destination.

Launch of the NSW China Strategy by Premier Mike Baird

On September 2 2014 ACRI hosted NSW Premier the Hon Mike Baird for a keynote address outlining New South Wales' China policy. Held on the eve of his first visit to China, Premier Baird shared his insights into the Australia-China relationship and put forward his government's strategy for engaging with China. The event was an example of ACRI"s mission to facilitate and showcase positive relations between the two countries. 

Under the new China Strategy, the NSW Government will focus its efforts on the relationship with China through a number of priority actions:

Carl Hinze - "The China Face"

On June 11 2015 ACRI hosted a seminar on the Chinese concept of 'face' presented by Dr Carl Hinze.

Face is an important concept to understand for anyone engaging in business in China. How is this concept manifested in Chinese language? What is the role of ‘face’ in building and maintaining relationships of trust in China? How does ‘face’ impact negotiations with Chinese parties?
